A new app under the same name, rebuilt from the first line for iOS 26. It arrives as a normal update in the App Store.

On the first launch 4.0 takes over your players, names, starting life, the settings that 4.0 has too and every match version 3 saved on this device. A one-time switch screen then shows your Founder badge. It happens on the device, without any network. In Settings, “Import data from version 3 again” adds nothing twice.

Matches that only lived in the cloud, for example from another device or after a reinstall. 4.0 has no account and no connection to the cloud of version 3, so those matches start fresh.

A Founder is everyone who used Life Counter before 4.0: anyone with version 3 data on the device at the update, anyone who downloaded the app before 4.0 came out, and anyone who bought “Ad-free” or slots. There is nothing to buy in 4.0. If paid extras come later, Founders get them free.

4.0 has no ads and no slots anyway. Your purchase makes you a Founder, and it keeps working in version 3 on Android or older iPhones.

Version 3 stays on your device and keeps working as before. The same goes for Android until Life Counter is native there.

4.0 does not need it. The cloud data stays until you delete it or we switch the service off. How to delete it: Delete account.

Tap the right half of an area, as its player sees it, to add and the left half to subtract. Keep holding and it keeps counting. Hold the number itself to open a keypad and type an amount. Every change can be undone from the table menu in the middle.

Drag a player’s commander coin onto the player their commander hit. A tap counts commander tax. More: Commander damage.

The app follows your iPhone’s language. You can change it for the app alone in iOS Settings under Apps, Life Counter, Language.

Open the table menu in the middle and pick the dice. Up to six dice roll across the table in one throw.

In the table menu under “History”. Every finished game is saved. Open one and drag along the life chart to see the table at any moment. Pearls jump to commander hits of 5 or more, knockouts and the winner's low point. Two fingers zoom. A deleted game can be brought back with Undo.

Win rate by player and by deck. Only finished games count. If a name is not saved, press and hold it to merge it with another name.

In the setup you pick players from your fixed roster, each with a colour and a commander. The roster also fills from the names of version 3.

Search the commander in the setup. The image comes from Scryfall and fills the player's area. It is stored on your device. Only the search needs internet.

After a win, and in the details of a game in the history, Share makes an image of the match. You choose in the share dialog where it goes.

In the history under More, and in Settings, you export as a file or as CSV for spreadsheets. On import, a preview shows what is new before anything is added.
